(Frequently Asked Questions)

Why do I need supplemental brakes?
Weight limits for towing
Which system is right for me?

What is InvisiBrake?
InvisiBrake is a fully-automatic, progressive supplemental braking system.

How does InvisiBrake work?
InvisiBrake uses the electrical connections already in place on your towed vehicle to brake when you brake the motorhome - the same electrical signal that activates the towed vehicle's brake lights also activates InvisiBrake.

Is InvisiBrake a 'proportional' braking system?
No, it is progressive. When braking is called for, InvisiBrake immediately engages the brake pedal and rapidly ramps up the braking the setting you have selected.

What do I have to do to prepare InvisiBrake for towing?
Nothing. InvisiBrake works automatically when you connect your towed vehicle to your motorhome. There's a motorhome monitor cord and a break away cable to connect between the two vehicles, and that's all.

Can I switch it between vehicles?
Yes. If you sell your towed vehicle, the major components can be removed and installed in the new towed vehicle. But InvisiBrake is not intended to be quickly swapped between towed vehicles, like Even Brake.

Will InvisiBrake drain the battery?
No. InvisiBrake constantly charges the towed vehicle during towing.

Will it work in my car?
InvisiBrake works in virtually all vehicles, including those with 'active' (or 'continuous power assist') braking systems.

How long does it take to install?
Installation, along with a brief overview given by your dealer, typically takes three to five hours. After the initial installation, InvisiBrake is always ready to tow, with no adjustments necessary.

How do I know it's working?
An LED monitor in the motorhome will illuminate each time InvisiBrake is activated.

What if I think it's braking too hard, or not hard enough?
You can easily adjust the braking pressure to a lighter or heavier setting.

I have an anti-lock braking system on my car. Will InvisiBrake still work? Yes. InvisiBrake will not interfere with your anti-lock braking system.

My motorhome has an exhaust brake. Will it cause InvisiBrake to self-activate? Only if the exhaust brake makes your brake lights turn on. In this event, InvisiBrake protects the towed vehicle by automatically releasing after 15 seconds of continuous braking. InvisiBrake will work normally with your next braking activity.

Why is InvisiBrake a better system?
InvisiBrake is an economic alternative to systems with proportional braking, such as Even Brake and BrakeMaster. InvisiBrake is unique in features such as automatic connection and disconnection, progressive braking and automatic battery protection. And iIt's made by ROADMASTER, the acknowledged leader in RV towing products. More people put their trust in ROADMASTER towing systems than in any other brand.
